  • Where is the Best Place to stay?
    Camp Jewel YMCA, 3 miles north of the Start/Finish Line, offers $25.00 per night accommodations and $7.00 breakfast.
  • What are the Camp Jewel accommodations?
    Camp Jewel has accommodations that include a place to sleep, shower, and have breakfast. All of the buildings are fully winterized and the bathrooms are in the cabins. The accommodations are $25 per person, per night. All riders will be staying in cabins at the main camp area (in 2009 riders stayed at Hide-A-Way, on the other side of the lake). The cabins hold between 24-60 people depending on the number of reservations. Camp Jewel will use the smallest cabins first so they are not crowded.
     
    Unfortunately, there is no place to cook in their accommodations. However, Camp Jewel offers breakfast each day for an additional $7 per person. Breakfast is served promptly at 8:00 am each morning. If anyone is in need of lunch other that provided at the Senior Center & the General Store, Camp Jewel can provide lunch for an additional $7 per person. Camp Jewel offers several breakfast options including fresh fruit, oatmeal, cold cereal, juice, coffee, tea, and a hot breakfast option each morning. Non-racing activities are also available.

  • Where is the Best Place to park?
    The parking lot behind the Colebrook Town Hall and roadside &#amp; parking lot east on Cooper Lane adjacent to the Colebrook Town Hall. The Colebrook Consolidated School parking lot on Smith Hill Road is also convenient. Sanitation facilities are available at each location.
  • What's the "Pasta Dinner" all about?
    On Saturday night, Camp Jewel will host a buffet pasta dinner. Alan Grant, professional photographer, will present a large slide show of photographs taken during the day. The exact time, menu, and cost have yet to be determined.
  • Is the Road Race 91 miles long for all categories?
    All Men's Races are comprised of two large loops. The first loop is 51 miles long and the second loop is 40 miles long, totaling 91 miles. The Women's Race is on the same course, but is limited to the first loop of 51 miles.
  • Is there Neutral Water Support?
    Yes. The Race Official's car behind the peloton has full water bottles. If a rider drops back and provides an empty bottle through the passenger window, then the rider will be provided a full water bottle. These are cycling water bottles and not beverage bottles.
  • Is there a profile of the race course available?
    Yes. There is profile available at MapMyRide and as recorded via GPS on my good friend George Pawle's Garmin.
  • What size rear wheel gear cassette cluster shall I use?
    That is personal choice.
  • Is the course hilly?
    'Hilly' is a relative term. The race is conducted in the Berkshire Mountains. The second loop has more hills than the first loop. There are 8,500 vertical feet of climbing over the 91 mile Road Race.
  • How does my assistant get from the Starting Line to Feed Zone 1 and Feed Zone 2?
    It's easy and quick. FEED ZONE 1: From the Starting Line, drive 1.2 miles north on Route 183 and turn right onto Sandy Brook Road. When Sandy Brook Road intersects Route 8, turn left. Feed Zone 1 will be
  • Must I sign the Start List for each race?
    Riders do not sign-in for the Individual Time Trial. Riders MUST SIGN-IN for the Circuit and Road Races. Failure to sign the Starting Sheet will result in a penalty.
  • Are Team Cars allowed in the Race Caravan?
    It depends. Team Cars are only allowed in the Road Race. A Team Car is allowed only if there are a minimum of three team members. The Team Car must 1) be a sedan or comparable low roof height vehicle 2) have a roof mounted warning flasher and 3) have a race radio provided by CMPSA (note: two cigarette lighter plugs or a plug splitter are required). Team Cars must be in positioned on School House Road 30 minutes prior to the Road Race.
  • Is there Neutral Support available?
    It depends on the Race and Race Category. Bike Support by Mark provides full professional mechanical services at the Start of the Time Trial and in a support car following each circuit race. The Men's P/1/2 and the Women's P/1/2/3 Road Race will also have Mark's professional support car in the caravan. The race organizer provides a neutral support vehicle in the race caravan for the Men's Cat. 3, Masters 2/3/4, and Cat 4 race. Riders may put spare wheels in the vehicle located on School House Road prior to the Road Race.
  • Can Team Cars provide water bottles?
    Yes. Team Cars may provide water bottles and mechanical support ONLY. Riders may accept water bottles from the Team Car passenger window ONLY. Failure to use the Team Car passenger window will result in a penalty.
  • Can Team Cars provide food?
    No. Team Cars may provide water bottles and mechanical support ONLY. Food may only be provided within the Feed Zone limits.
  • Will Time Trial bikes be inspected with a UCI conformance jig?
    No. Not during the 2010 edition.
  • When and where will awards be presented?
    Awards will be presented at the start of the following race and at the starting line. For example, the top three finishers of the Cat.3 ITT will be awarded at the start of the Cat. 3 Circuit Race.
  • When and where will prize payments be made?
    All prize payments are made via PayPal with 30 days and sent to the e-address listed on the rider's registration form. Please be sure that the listed e-address is correct.
  • How will the General Classification be determined?
    Each rider's general classification shall be calculated by summing that rider's time in all individual stages, taking into account any time bonuses and penalties.
  • How will the Best Hill Climber be determined?
    The Best Hill Climber shall be calculated by summing points earned at the top of Stillman Hill Rd. Points will be earned during the Circuit Race and the Road Race. During the Circuit Race, two intermediate prime laps (10, 7, 5, 3, 1 to the first five riders to the top) and the final lap (15, 10, 5, 3, 1 to the first five riders to the top) shall have hill climbing points awarded at the top of Stillman Hill Rd. During the Road Race, climbing points shall be awarded at the top of Stillman Hill Rd (15, 10, 5, 3, 1 to the first five riders to the top).
  • How will the Best Sprinter be determined?
    The Best Sprinter shall be calculated by summing points earned at the Start/Finish Line. Points will be earned during the Circuit Race and the Road Race. During the Circuit Race, two intermediate prime laps (10, 7, 5, 3, 1 to the first five riders across the line) and at the race finish (15, 10, 5, 3, 1 to the first five riders across the line) shall have sprint points awarded. During the Road Race, sprint points shall be awarded at the end of loop 1, beginning of loop2, at the finish line in Colebrook Center (15, 10, 5, 3, 1 to the first five riders across the line).
  • Is the 'Yellow Line' rule in effect?
